Germany funds vocational training project

The German Government financed the second phase of Project ‘Promotion of Technical and Vocational Education and Training – Phase 2’ with a sum of €3 million to support eleven financial co-operation promoted training institutions in different cities and provinces of Vietnam. The Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs of Vietnam (MOLISA) and German Technical Co-operation (GTZ) signed co-operation documents of the second phase of this project late Thursday in Hanoi.

The Project ‘Promotion of Technical and Vocational Education and Training’ commenced in May 2006. Funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) of the German Government with the General Directorate of Vocational Training (GDVT) of MOLISA as the implementing partner, the Project’s overall objective is to ensure that enterprises in sectors with high growth and employment potential have sufficient access to a qualified workforce. It is a co-operation programme, involving German Development Service (DED), Centre for International Migration under Entwicklung (CIM) and Capacity Building International (InWEnt), coordinated by GTZ. The support will focus on developing and/or reforming curricula based on labour market requirements and following unique standards, providing adapted teaching and learning materials, and capacity building of teaching and management staff.

According to the cooperation agreement, the GTZ is committed to provide experienced experts, as well as financial, technical and administrative support to the Project while MOLISA, through GDVT, will bear the responsibility to nominate partner personnel and ensure the Project’s smooth co-ordination and Vietnamese co-operation. With the success of the first phase, the implementation of Phase 2 of the Project is expected to make a significant contribution to the course of vocational education and training in Vietnam, in particular assisting the country to successfully reach its general socio-economic targets.
