Vietnam turns to Canada to preserve heritage
Vietnam has been looking to Canada for advice in management and preservation of cultural heritage as well as training personnel in the field.
This was the focus of a visiting delegation of the Culture Ministry, who had working sessions with Canadian officials from the Heritage Ministry on July 25.
The Canadian Federation Government provided 3.5 billion USD, or 3.8 percent of the country's GDP, to organise cultural activities in the 2002-03 fiscal year. However, the total fund in fact came up to 42 billion USD from various sources mobilised by cultural authorities, such as advertisements, trade of cultural products, contributions of local governments, companies, charitable organisations, social funds and individuals, according to the Canadian officials.
During their stay till July 29, the delegation will meet officials from the Ontario State's Ministry of Culture, the Canadian Conservation Institute and visit cultural sites in British Columbia and Quebec provinces.
