The first French Spring festival in Vietnam
The first French Spring festival ever will be kicked off in Vietnam on May 12 with a fashion show entitled Blue, White and Red.
The show will be held at Sofitel Metropole Hanoi Hotel with the participation of three Vietnamese fashion designers. They are Vu Thu Giang, who is running the brand-name vuthuGiang; Vu Viet Ha from Garment Company No.10, and Truong Anh Vu from Phuong Dong Garment Company.
The Vietnamese and French fashion industries have long maintained strong ties through the performances and training programmes between the French Fashion Institute, the Vietnam Garment-Textile Corporation (Vinatex) and the Fashion Designing Institute (Fadin).
According to designer Truong Anh Vu, his 25 summer dress samples to be introduced at the upcoming fashion show were inspired by minimalism as well as the modern romantic styles popular in Europe. Vu wants to create a new image of women out of the thin cotton and brocade fabric.
Hubert Oile, from the French Culture Centre, said that The French Spring festival was a cultural and artistic festival aiming to strengthen the relationship and understanding between the two countries.
After this year’s debut, the festival will revisit Vietnam once every two years. The festival has been organized in other Southeast Asian countries by the French embassies.
The festival in Vietnam will end on June 30.
