Brazilian Deputy FM visits Viet Nam

A delegation of the Brazilian Foreign Ministry, headed by Deputy Minister Roberto Jaguaribe Gomes de Mattos wrapped up his three-day Vietnam visit for the fourth political reference on November 24. During the visit, the delegation was received by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem and held talks with a delegation of the Foreign Ministry of Vietnam, headed by Deputy Minister Pham Binh Minh.

They also had a working session with Deputy Minister of Commerce and Industry Nguyen Cam Tu. Deputy PM Khiem said the two countries need to boost cooperation in economy, trade, investment, science and technology in order to build a comprehensive partnership following the Joint Declaration of Vietnamese and Brazilian leaders made during the Brazil visit by Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh in May 2007.

Deputy Minister Mattos reiterated that Vietnam is a priority in Brazil ’s Asia policy. During talks and working sessions, the two sides agreed that Vietnam and Brazil are well positioned to deepen bilateral relations, especially cooperation in agriculture, industry, energy, bio-technology, medical and pharmaceuticals. They were pleased that both sides share the same viewpoints in many regional and international issues and agreed to continue coordinating and cooperating at international organisations and multilateral forums.
