Activities being held to mark 50th anniversary of Vietnam Composers’ Association
Many activities are being held to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam Composers’ Association (1947-2007), with the focus of four performance Music Gala Half a Century of Vietnamese Music.
Before the music gala, the Association has published two music books, including 1,300 page “Vietnamese Composers” highlighting composers’ contributions to the national music and 700 page “Half a Century of the Vietnamese Composers’ Association which is considered the annals of the association.
In addition, since last December, the Association started the music programme “Music in New Day” at the Hanoi Opera House to honour artists winning Ho Chi Minh Prize. To date, 20 performances of all kinds of music, from symphony, chamber music and traditional music have been organised in many localities such as Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, An Giang, Phu Yen, Ha Nam, Nam Dinh, Thai Binh and Da Nang provinces.
Under a serious of activities celebrating the event, the Music Gala will start with a chamber music show on December 25 at the Hanoi Conservatory of Music; following by light music concert "Rhythm of Life” on December 26 and “Vietnamese Symphony” at the Hanoi Opera House on December 27.
Particularly, the music show "Hearts Devoted to Life” on December 28 will introduce to the public the most famous pieces of music by 14 composers who were presented the Ho Chi Minh Prize. The programme will be broadcast live from the Hanoi Friendship Palace on Radio the Voice of Vietnam.
On the occasion, the association will receive the Order of Golden Star, the highest distinction from the Party and the State on December 28.
The Vietnam Composers’ Association were honoured the Medal of Independence, first class and Ho Chi Minh Order; 14 composers have received Ho Chi Minh Prize; 75 others honoured the State Prize on Literature and Art and nearly 50 composers have bestowed with Medal of Independence and Medal of Labour.
