Agreement to modernise Vietnam's railway signalling system

The Swiss government pledged 16.9 million Swiss francs from its official development assistance programme to an infrastructure project on the modernisation of Vietnam's North-South railway signalling system. An agreement to this effect was signed between the Minister of Transport and Communications Ho Nghia Dung and Swiss Ambassador Benedict de Cerjat in Hanoi on Sept. 12.

The "Modernisation of the Signalling Systems for Seven Main Stations on the trans-nation Railway Line", in which Vietnam contributed 3 million Swiss francs, is expected to to improve the safety and transport capacity of the railway link. The seven main stations on the line, which will benefit from the project, are Dieu Tri in central Binh Dinh province, Tuy Hoa in central Phu Yen province, Nha Trang in central Khanh Hoa province, Thap Cham in central Phan Rang province, Muong Man in central Binh Thuan province, Song Than in southern Binh Duong province and Sai Gon in Ho Chi Minh City
