Vietnamese Days open in Luxembourg with business seminar
Representatives from nearly 100 Vietnamese and Luxembourg enterprises attended a business workshop which was held on September 14 as an opening activity of "Vietnamese Days in Luxembourg."
Speaking at the workshop, Secretary General of the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce Paul Emering stressed that the event provided a valuable chance for Luxembourg and Vietnamese enterprises to seek partners and business opportunities.
Phan Thuy Thanh, Vietnamese Ambassador to Belgium and Luxembourg, highlighted important milestones in relations between Vietnam and the European Union (EU) in general and Luxembourg in particular.
She emphasised a meeting between Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and his Luxembourg counterpart, Jean-Claude Juncker, during the sixth Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM 6) in Helsinki, at which the two PMs affirmed the need to boost bilateral trade ties based on the combination of Luxembourg's advanced technology and Vietnam's intensive labour forces.
The diplomat reiterated Vietnam's consistent policy to consider the EU, of which Luxembourg is one of the founders, its leading economic and trade partner. The Vietnamese government has always created favourable conditions for EU businesses to invest in priority areas, she said.
Thanh also reaffirmed Vietnam's role in promoting the comprehensive relations between regional countries, as well as members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) with the EU.
Vietnam, with a population of 83 million, was a potential market due to its link with the 500 million people-strong ASEAN market and the Chinese market with 1.3 billion consumers, she stressed.
The ambassador also expressed her hope that through the workshop, Vietnamese and Luxembourg businesses will work more actively to build and implement new joint projects, thus further fostering bilateral trade, investment and tourism co-operation.
Representatives of the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) introduced to the participants the socio-economic development in their respective nations to help them get more necessary information.
On this occasion, the two chambers signed a Memorandum of Understanding on bilateral co-operation.
"Vietnamese Days in Luxembourg" will last until late September.
