Vietnam to start building bauxite/alumina plant
HANOI - A state-run company will start building Vietnam's first bauxite/alumina complex, expected to cost around $500 million, in April, a company source said on Wednesday.
The Vietnam National Mineral Corporation would borrow up to $350 million from banks in Belgium, France, Germany and Japan to build a complex with an annual capacity of 600,000 tonnes of alumina in the central highland province of Lam Dong, the source said.
"The government has approved the project and a ground breaking ceremony will be in April," the source close to the deal told Reuters.
