French violinist to perform springtime recital in HCMC

Renowned French violinist Maryvonne Le Dizés will perform in the “Spring Melodies” concert at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory Friday, Mar. 4. The spring concert will feature classical violin masterpieces of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791), and Samuel Barber (1910-1981), and also a selection from Vietnamese composer Hoang Cuong. The recital will commence at 8pm at the Concert hall of the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory located at 112 Nguyen Du Street in District 1.

Le Dizés, who last played her third concert in HCMC in February last year at the Ho Chi Minh Conservatory, has won the prestigious violin contest “Paganini”. She was aslo the founder of many chamber music bands such as Le Trio de l’EIC, Le Quatuor Cappa, Le Sextuor Schoenberg.

In 1977, Maryvonne Le Dizés was granted the title Professor of Music at the Boulogne-Billancourt Conservatory. One year after, she entered the Intercontemporain Ensemble, a Paris-based leading performance organization devoted to new music under the instruction of famous conductor Pierre Boulez. Since then, the artist has spent 23 years working with her colleagues in the Ensemble. In 1983, she received First Prize at the International American Music Competition. After that, she captured the French National Music Grand Prix SACEM for her excellent performance of a contemporary music work.

In recent years, the French violist has taken care of Vietnamese students in accordance of a cooperative cultural project between Vietnam and France.
