Tourist arrested for prescription pills
A French man has been arrested in Vietnam for being in possession of prescription drugs that are legal in France but banned in Vietnam.
Van Huong Pham was arrested by Vietnamese police at the end of July for being in possession of some 50 Valium and other pain-reducing pills.
Of Vietnamese origin, he has taken French citizenship, France's TF1 television, which reported the arrest Tuesday, stated.
His family says he suffers from severe back pain, and that they have had no news of him since Sunday evening. He was on a 3-week vacation in Vietnam.
The French Foreign Ministry told reporters Tuesday that it was looking into the matter.
