Vietnam's Moc Bai border market calls for tenants

HANOI - Moc Bai Border Market Authorities (MBM) are calling for tenants, citing the market's ideal location on the frontier of Vietnam and Cambodia. "The market is just 70km from Ho Chi Minh City and 170km from Phnom Penh, on the Trans-Asia Highway. Its situation makes it favourable for trade between Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Myanmar and China," said MBM company director Le Nguyen Quoc Sy on June 20.

The 30,500-sq.m MBM, which is scheduled to open in mid-July, is in Tay Ninh Province's Moc Bai Economic Zone. The centre was built at a cost of VND30 billion (US$1.9 million) and has approximately 200 stalls. Office, restaurant, warehouse and almost 800 sq.m. of showroom space is also available for rent. A computer network system ensures the electronic transaction needs of every stall. Since the market is a part of a key economic zone, goods and services imported there will be exempt from tariffs and exports free from value-added tax. MBM traders will enjoy a four-year break from income tax. In the following nine years they will be taxed at a rate of 5 per cent, which will increase to 10 per cent two years after that, according to Sy.
