Vietnam doubles exports to France
Vietnam’s revenues from France-bound exports this year are expected to reach one billion euro (US$1.173 billion) or double the 2004 figure.
In the year up to October, they were worth more than 660 million euro ($774 million), or 1.5 times the figure for the whole of 2004, an official in the Vietnamese Ministry of Trade said.
The growth came mainly from bicycles and bike parts which fetched 13.8 million euro ($16.1 million), up 498% year-on-year; and electrical and electronic products which fetched 32 million euro ($37.5 million), up 234%.
Another big contributor was seafood which rose 132% to 24.5 million euro ($28.7 million).
Vietnamese imports from France in the first 10 months were worth 187 million euro ($279.3 million) against 486 million euro ($569.8 million) the whole of last year.
Drug imports fell 2.6% to 40.2 million euro while electrical and electronic equipment fell 7% to 38.9 million euro.
