Better Vietnam access for business

Australian business people will find it easier to enter Vietnam following a decision by the South-East Asian country to join a region-wide business travel card program. From next year, holders of an Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) business travel card will be able to use express immigration lanes at airports and stay for at least 60 days in Vietnam without having to apply for a visa.

Australia is a member of the APEC business travel card system. Vietnamese Foreign Affairs Minister Nguyen Dy Nien said by joining the program, business people would find it easier to enter Vietnam for work. "Joining the program will serve as a boost for regional business by making travel easier for Vietnamese and other APEC businesspeople," he said in a statement. "Vietnam's participation in the program is a testimony of our commitment to creating favourable conditions for business in Vietnam in the context of an early accession to the World Trade Organisation." Vietnam hosts the annual APEC leaders meeting next year.
