First university in Vietnam applies E-learning
The faculty of business management of Da Nang Economics University has become the first higher education institution in Vietnam to offer e-learning service to students. The site offers free downloadable course materials and students can access it from anywhere with an Internet connection.
Students attending the course said they were happy to do online testing and homework since they can do it anytime they wish.
Teacher Dang Cong Tuan said the management level of staff at the university and their information technology skills are not up to the mark, leading to a limited application of online teaching and learning. The model set by the business management faculty of Da Nang Economic University will be reviewed for further application.
Students still need to attend class to get enough credit for their courses.
In addition to registered students of the faculty who take e-courses, more than 1,000 other learners from outside have registered to take part in the course.
The model is set to expand to several high schools in Da Nang City and by the end of this month, a training course for small and medium sized businesses will also be available online, managed by the university.
