Vietnam films likely to get more aid from Francophone club
Vietnam’s filmmakers will likely have more chances of being funded by the International Organization of the Francophone (IOF) after an overseas Vietnamese became a member of IOF’s sponsoring committee of film works.
Ho Quang Minh, director of Vietnamese film Thoi Xa Vang (Long Time Past) – winner of the 2005 Emile Guimet Award by the French National Museum of Asian Arts – has accepted an invitation to join the Sponsorship Committee of Audiovisual Projects under IOF- an intergovernmental organization of French-speaking countries.
The committee sponsors up to a maximum of 100,000 Euros for a film project.
In the past, four Vietnamese directors - Dang Nhat Minh, Ho Quang Minh, Nguyen Vo Nghiem Minh and Viet Linh - were able to produce their films thanks to the committee’s aid.
