Siemens, Juniper Deploy VOIP Network

MUNICH -- Vietnam Posts and Telecommunication Corporation has awarded Siemens a contract worth more than 11 million USD to provide Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Corporation (VNPT) with infrastructure solutions for a Next Generation Network with Siemens SURPASS and E- and M-series routing platforms from its partner, Juniper Networks, Inc. The network will enable VNPT to deploy new Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services throughout the country.

After the successful implementation of NGN VoIP Network Phase 1 in November 2003 with Siemens, VNPT has now decided to expand the Siemens Surpass network throughout Vietnam. One of the benefits of Siemens’ solution is the availability of IN switched-based services and the whole feature set of Siemens EWSD switch.

The NGN VoIP project, which is based on Surpass provided by Siemens, also represents the largest deployment to date of Juniper Networks solutions in Vietnam. It follows the successful deployment earlier this year of Vietnam's first DSL broadband network, also based on Siemens and Juniper Networks solutions.

This Siemens Next Generation Network (NGN) VoIP project utilizes Juniper Networks M-series and E-series platforms to build the core VoIP infrastructure connecting Vietnam's three largest cities – Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Danang.
