Suspension of unlicensed website ttvnonline
HANOI - The Ministry of Culture and Information (MoCI) has suspended the
operation of the website: ttvnonline.com as it was unlicensed and
carried
information that violated the press law of Viet Nam.
Do Quy Doan, director of the MoCI press department, told Lao Dong
(Labour)
newspaper that the VVT Innovative Solutions Co., Ltd, that launched the
website ttvnonline.com, had not applied for an operation licence from
the
State information management agency.
The official said the Government Decree 55/2001/ND-CP on management,
provision, and use of internet service stipulates that all electronic
papers
must apply for a licence for operation under the management of the
Ministry
of Culture and Information in conformity with the press law of Viet Nam.
Therefore, the operation of the website ttvnonline was a violation of
Decree
55/2001/ND-CP issued on Aug. 23, 2001.
Moreover, information carried by the website violated Article 10 of
the
press law and Article 6 and Article 11 of the above-said Government
Decree.
The MoCI on Aug. 5 requested that VVT Innovative Solutions Co., Ltd
immediately cease operation of the website and seal all equipment and
facilities relating to its operation.
Also, it requested the Vietnam Datacommunication (VDC) company to
terminate its provision of internet service to the website.
