International tourism festival opens in Vietnam
The International Tourism Festival 2003, the biggest ever event in Vietnam, opened in Hoan Kiem Lake area of Vietnamese capital city Hanoi on Saturday evening.
Addressing at the opening ceremony of the festival, Hoang Van Nghien, chairman of Hanoi People's Committee, said that the festival will be a good opportunity for the Vietnamese tourism industry to exchange views and introduce the cultural tradition and tourism potentials in the regional and international integration process to its international partners.
It is also held to commemorate the 22nd Southeast Asian Games, National Action Plan on Tourism, and the Asian Network of Major Cities 21's 2nd Welcome to Asia" Campaign.
Under the program of the three-day festival, an exhibition is also organized, with the participation of 200 domestic enterprises, and international major cities including Tokyo, Beijing, Bangkok, Jakarta, Delhi, Kuala Lumpur, Kun Ming, local tour operators and their partners. The exhibition comprises 300 booths introducing national and international tourism products to visitors.
Besides, the festival, which is expected to attract more than 30,000 local and international visitors, also includes cultural and art programs, and culinary art festival.
