Regulation on salaries for Vietnamese working for foreign companies
The minimum salaries in accordance with titles applied for Vietnamese
experts and labourers working in the form of contract for foreign
contractors who win tenders in Vietnam are: senior engineer, US $1,000
per month; main engineer, US $700 per month; engineer, US $500;
interpreter, US $400 per month; technician, US $350 per month;
secretary, US $250 per month and office staff and typist, US $200 per
month.
These are stipulated in a decision made by the Ministry of Labour, War
Invalids and Social Affairs on salaries of Vietnamese experts and
labourers working under the form of contract for foreign contractors
who win contracts in Vietnam.
These salaries do not include 15% of social insurance and 2% of health
insurance which the employers are responsible to pay for their
employees under the Code of Labour.
The salaries will be paid in Vietnamese dong in accordance with the
average exchange rate in the Inter-bank foreign currency market
announced by the State Bank of Vietnam at the time of payment.
The decision will come into effect on October 21, 2000.
