Vietnam France JV to build US$10 Mln animal feed mill
HANOI - Proconco, a Vietnam-France joint venture company, has signed a land lease for six hectares
in the Dinh Vu Economic Zone (DVEZ) located in the port city of Hai Phong.
The company will establish a US$ 10 million animal feed mill in the zone. Proconco is to the third JV to establish its presence
the DVEZ.
Capable of producing 300,000 tonnes of animal feed a year, the mill will double Proconco's production capacity in Vietnam.
The mill is the second expansion move taken by the company this year following the recent opening of a 40,000 sq.m
warehouse complex in Can Tho province.
Proconco was established in 1991 as one of the first joint ventures in the country. Since then, the company, with headquarters
in Bien Hoa (Dong Nai province), has expanded rapidly and grown into the leading producer of animal feed products in
Vietnam.
The DVEZ, covering 1,152 ha, is currently being developed by a consortium of American, European and Asian companies into
a major industrial centre in northern Vietnam.
Unlike other industrial zones in northern Vietnam, the DVEZ offers tenants direct access to the sea and an extensive network of
inland waterways, making the zone very attractive.
Joining an area reserved for oil and petro-chemical companies and an area reserved for general industries, a dedicated
agro-industrial centre is to be established within the DVEZ.
