Vietnam consumer prices up 2.7%
HANOI - Vietnam's consumer prices rose 2.7% in September from a year earlier but were up only 0.1% compared with the previous month, preliminary figures show.
Food prices, which form half the basket of goods on which the consumer price index is based, rose 0.9% from a year earlier, with rice up 0.5%, according to the General Statistics Office.
Prices for pharmaceutical products and health care services soared 17.7%, construction materials were up 8.8%
while the cost of tobacco and beverages rose 3.9%.
Gold recorded the biggest increase, rising by 16.4%. The US dollar was up 1.4% against the dong compared with a year ago.
