NEW DELHI - A Nuclear Training Centre set up with Indian assistance in Vietnam would be launched on Thursday to mark
three decades of up gradation of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
"A Vietnam-India Nuclear Training Centre, set up with Indian assistance, will be launched in Dalat in Vietnam on January 10. We
are having a whole programme of celebrations starting from Monday and spread over this year," Minister of State for External
Affairs Omar Abdullah said at a function to mark the 30th anniversary of India upgrading its relations with Vietnam from Consular to
full diplomatic level.
Elaborating on the traditional relationship between India and Vietnam, Abdullah said there was "identity of views between us on
global issues" and expressed gratitude for the support extended by Vietnam to India in various international fora including the
ASEAN.
Pointing out that the two countries had cultural and trade links since antiquity, Abdullah said "from a humble 75 million Dollars
bilateral trade in 1990-91, we are now at 237 million Dollars, and aim to bring this to 500 million Dollars in the next two to three
years.
"India stands ready to share its development experiences with Vietnam unreservedly," he added.
Apart from this evening's classic opera and a modern theatre performance by visiting Vietnamese troupe there would be a seminar
