Vietnam Airlines to launch its new logo

HANOI - On Nov.1, the Viet Nam Airlines will officially launch the "Golden Lotus" logo after 12 years of impressing passengers with the "Stork and Moon" logo. A Boeing 777, painted with the new logo on its body, will land at the Noi Bai international airport on Oct. 20 to start the programme. "To Vietnamese people, lotus stands for perfection on the Buddhist doctrine. The new logo, therefore, expresses the nation's advancement will as well as the strength and the development process of the civil aviation service," explained Director General Nguyen Xuan Hien.

He said that the new logo also showcases the airlines' golden goal to become a key industry in the national development and global integration, as well as to bring itself to an equal footing with major world rivals. The business now boasts a fleet of 30 modern aircraft and is expected to strengthen it with another four Boeing 777s of the new generation by 2003. Last year, 2.2 million foreigners arrived in Viet Nam by air. The figure is likely to surge in the years to come for Viet Nam has been rated as the safest destination amid the increasing threat of terrorism the world over. The airlines has so far opened 15 domestic routes and 23 international routes. The new logo will be gradually applied to all products and services provided by the airlines within three years.
