Vietnamese music dictionary to be launched next year
The Vietnam Music Dictionary will be published early next year - the
first ever Vietnamese musical panorama for the populace.
Work on the dictionary has been underway since 2000, and it details
both composers and singers who have contributed to Vietnamese music
and provides an abundant musical treasury and history. It gives
testimonials to outstanding individuals, including those who have been
granted the Ho Chi Minh award, people's artists, folk artists, and pop
stars, regardless of any "unhealthy" politics they may express.
The 500-page dictionary has been complied by leading composers and
singers such as Prof To Ngoc Thanh, an expert in traditional folk
music, singer cum People's Artist Nguyen Trung Kien and musicians
Trong Bang, Hoang Duong and Hong Dang.
The previously published Vietnam Encyclopedia briefly introduces
Vietnamese music and facts, and the book "Vietnamese Musicians" honors
composers.
