Miss Universe impressed by Viet Nam

Ha Noi - "Vietnam is so admirable," exclaimed 18-year-old Miss Universe 2003 Amelia Vega after her brief visit to Viet Nam. The beauty further said she was deeply impressed with the country's rich culture, traditional ao dai (a long dress for ladies), good food that prompted her to "eat so much" and exhibits in the Military Museum that helped her understand more about Viet Nam.

An honourary member of the jury at Sunday's Miss Ha Noi-Viet Nam 2003 contest, the girl from the Dominican Republic said she really liked a Vietnamese proverb that goes "Good virtue overwhelms beautiful apprearance," and expressed her hope that Vietnamese girls will appear not only beautiful, wise and self-confident but also able to display their virtue to their friends all over the world.

The contest crowned 19-year-old Nguyen Thi Hong Van, a student of the Hai Phong Navigation College, the winner. She will take part in the Miss Universe 2004 contest.
