Vietnam, China able to demarcate marine border line in 2000, says Hanoi

General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of VietnamLe Kha Phieu expressed the belief Friday that Vietnam and China will be able to solve the question of demarcating their border line in the Beibuwan Gulf by the end of this year. Phieu made the remarks when meeting Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Li Jiazhong who will soon finish his term.

He described the signing of the land border treaty between the two countries last year as an important event in bilateral relations. The friendly and cooperative relations between Vietnam and China conforms to the fundamental interests of the two Communist Parties, two countries and two peoples, and benefits regional and international peace, stability and development, Phieu said.

The Vietnamese Party leader spoke highly of the smooth development of all-round relations between the two Parties and two countries in recent years. As two socialist countries, Vietnam and China should increase exchanges and cooperation in all fields for common development, he noted.
