BCE Teleglobe connects Vietnam's largest internet service provider
Teleglobe Communications Corporation, a leading
provider of
global communications and e-Business services, announced it has established a connection
with Vietnam's
largest Internet Service Provider to offer Internet connectivity to its IP backbone in North
America by
satellite.
The agreement with the state-owned Vietnam Datacommunications Company (VDC) is the
first time VDC
has had direct satellite connectivity with a North American Internet backbone provider,
enabling
high-speed communications between Vietnam and North America.
BCE Teleglobe is providing VDC with a satellite connection between North America and
Vietnam to its
global high-speed network backbone through a dedicated high bandwidth connection. VDC
is using the
bandwidth to offer faster, more reliable Internet connections and international data transport
to business
and consumer customers in Vietnam.
"VDC represents BCE Teleglobe's continuing expansion into the Asia- Pacific market and
our first foray
into Vietnam," said Andrew Kwok, BCE Teleglobe's vice president and managing director,
Asia Pacific.
"BCE Teleglobe is delivering high-speed Internet connectivity to several other countries in
the region,
including Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan,
Thailand and a
number of Pacific Islands. VDC needed the most reliable and experienced provider for their
growing
business and consumer market and turned to BCE Teleglobe for this expertise."
BCE Teleglobe recently became the first global Internet backbone provider with the ability
to offer IP
services seamlessly over a multi-protocol label switched (MPLS) packet network.
"This agreement significantly reduces the complexity and cost of going through multiple
international
networks to secure intercontinental connectivity," said Vu Hoang Lien, director of VDC.
"BCE Teleglobe's
reputation as a sophisticated satellite services provider made them the logical choice for
helping us provide
reliable service between Vietnam and North America."
