More foreign airlines to serve Central Vietnam

HANOI - There will be more international airlines linking Da Nang in Central Vietnam with other cities in the region over the coming year, said a civil aviation official. Nguyen Lai, general of the Central Airport Authority, said Da Nang Airport is expected to provide service for the first flight of Singaporean airline Silk Air.

The Singapore-Da Nang-Siem Reap-Singapore route, which is scheduled to begin on January 3, will fly three times weekly. A direct Singapore-Da Nang air service will operate later, Lai said. Korean Air also is seeking to open a Seoul-Da Nang-Ho Chi Minh City-Seoul route next year, and CR Airways of Hong Kong plans to resume a Hong Kong-Da Nang service later this year.

Lai said Thai Airways could either resume a Bangkok-Da Nang route or open a new air service to link Bangkok with Phu Bai Airport in Hue next year.
