Vietnam finds jobs offshore
Vietnam says it plans to send 50,000 workers overseas
this year, to counter a shortage of available jobs at home.
Five thousand jobs are in the Middle East.
Vietnam's labour ministry says the country needs to keep
sending people abroad so that they can earn an income
and lift themselves from poverty.
United Nations development experts say Vietnam, with a
population of 80 million, needs to create 1.5 million jobs
each year for new jobseekers, to combat high rural
unemployment and underemployment.
