Vietnam Datacom partners with Equant
SINGAPORE - Global data communications provider Equant has done a
deal with the Vietnam government's national Internet and IT
services provider Vietnam Datacommunication Company (VDC).
Equant said today it will be able to offer to multinational
companies based in Vietnam access to its global data network as a
result of the deal.
The agreement will link VDC's Vietnamese data communications
network to Equant's global Internet protocol (IP) -based network.
Multinationals with operations in Vietnam will be offered a frame
relay service that can link them to offices in other countries via
VDC's and Equant's network.
For VDC, the deal means it can expand the global scope of its
network without actually acquiring its own facilities around the
world. At the same time, Equant gets to add another destination
node to its own global network, making it more attractive to
companies with extensive networks of offices around the world.
Equant, majority-owned by France Telecom, claims to manage access
to 1,100 nodes in over 220 countries and territories.
VDC is controlled by state-owned telephone company Vietnam Posts
and Telecommunications (VNPT).
