Napalm victim becomes Vietnamese Unesco envoy
The Vietnamese woman Kim Phuc, whose photograph as a young girl fleeing a
napalm attack became one of the most poignant images of the Vietnam war, has
taken up her position as goodwill ambassador to the United Nations agency
UNESCO at a ceremony in Paris.
In an address, Kim Phuc said she wanted to help people heal the wounds of
hatred.
The UNESCO director General, Federico Mayor, said the appointment would
proclaim that tolerance could prevail over conflict.
