Vietnam's foreign minister to visit Australia, NZ

Vietnam's Foreign Minister, Nguyen Dy Nien, will visit New Zealand and Australia next week. Mr Nien will begin his official two-day trip to New Zealand on Monday and meet the country's foreign minister, Phil Goff.

On Wednesday, he will begin a three-day visit to Australia, during which he will hold talks with Foreign Minister, Alexander Downer. A Vietnamese foreign ministry spokesman says the aim of the visit is to further strengthen relations between Hanoi and the two countries. Mr Downer visited Hanoi in July, while New Zealand Prime Minister, Helen Clark, travelled to the communist nation in October.
