French Commander Ends First Visit
HANOI - French Commander for the Pacific region Vice Admiral Amaury Du Chene visited
Vietnam from August, 1-5.
He was received by Lieutenant General Le Hai Anh, Deputy Commander-in-Chief
of the Vietnam People's Army.
Vice Admiral Chene paid a courtesy visit to the Commander of Military Zone 7 and
called at the Navy Command. He joined activities with officers of two ships, the
Aconit of the French Navy and the New Castle of the UK Royal Navy, which visited
Ho Chi Minh City from August 2-5. He visited some historical and cultural relics in
Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and went sight-seeing in Quang Ninh province, a tourist
destination in northern Vietnam.
The Aconit ship of the French Navy and the New Castle ship of the UK Royal
Navy paid a goodwill visit to Ho Chi Minh City from August, 2-5.
Officers of the two ships paid floral tributes at President Ho Chi Minh's Statue,
visited the leadership of the municipal People's Committee, the Command of Military
Zone 7 and the Navy Command.
The crewmen welcomed local people on board their ships, joined in
friendship sports activities and called at a number of historical and cultural
relics in the city
