French Information Centre prepares for Dien Bien Phu anniversary

PARIS - CID-Viet Nam, a French-based information centre focussing on contemporary Viet Nam, has updated its archives with valuable information relating to the Dien Bien Phu campaign in preparations for the 50th anniversary of this historic event.

The only databank about contemporary Viet Nam in Europe, CID-Viet Nam is stocked with more than 5,000 titles of books, magazines and documents in Vietnamese, French and English, providing diversified and abundant information about contemporary Viet Nam's politics, economics, culture, society, art, history, geography and tourism.

Established on Nov. 20, 1985, CID-Viet Nam is open to readers every Tuesday. The centre also publishes a 20-24 page quarterly on new books and newspapers in Viet Nam as well as the current situation in the country.

At a recent meeting with Vietnamese Ambassador to France Nguyen Dinh Bin, Director of CID Viet Nam Alain Ruscio said that the centre has been cooperating with a number of agencies to organise seminars and exhibitions on the Dien Bien Phu battle, the Geneva Accords, and the activities of President Ho Chi Minh during the time he spent in France
