Vietnamese president to visit Cambodia Nov. 26-28
PHNOM PENH - Vietnamese President Tran Duc Luong will pay a three-day official visit to
Cambodia from Nov. 26 for talks with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen and King Norodom Sihanouk, a
senior government official said Wednesday.
During his visit, Luong is expected to sign an agreement on the promotion and protection of investments
and another on border trade cooperation, the official told Kyodo News on condition of anonymity.
He will also sign a memorandum of understanding on improving cooperation between the two countries'
foreign ministries and a joint declaration on the framework for bilateral cooperation, according to the official.
Luong was originally scheduled to pay a two-day visit to Cambodia last November. However, he postponed
the trip following a terrorist attack in Phnom Penh three days before he was to arrive.
Historically, Vietnam has been considered Cambodia's rival over border demarcations and because it
occupied Cambodia for 10 years after the fall of the brutal Khmer Rouge regime in 1979.
