Vietnam has 150,000 new cancer patients each year
HANOI - Vietnam reports 150,000 new cancer patients and
70,000 cancer fatalities every year, local newspaper Youth reported
Friday, quoting data from a seminar held in the country's southern
province of Can Tho.
In the Mekong Delta alone, there are 32,000 more people infected the
disease each year, according to the report.
Of the kinds of cancer, the most common ones include breast cancer, uterus
cancer, and lung cancer.
The large patient number was attributed mainly to the late uncover of the
disease.
Additionally, Vietnam is faced with the shortage of specialized hospitals
for cancer patients. Specially, the Mekong Delta with a population of 16
million has just three hospitals with tumor departments.
