HONG KONG - In today's roundup of Asia Pacific business-to-business (B2B) news: Vietnam Enterprises Showcase Products Online, Asian Information Exchange Launches.

Vietnam Enterprises Showcase Products Online A Web site showcasing the products and services of Vietnamese enterprises has gone live at http://www.YesVietNamExpo.com.vn . It will be officially launched next month, a project of the Council of Young Vietnamese Entrepreneurs. Companies will have a place to list products and services in virtual showrooms. Tools will be included to enable online communications with customers around the globe. The site will also provide business fora, a legal directory and consulting services.

Asian Information Exchange Launches The Asian Information Exchange is a B2B content syndication and distribution service set up by Asian-Inex Technology. The exchange trades in Asian news and information, with content producers selling finance, technology and entertainment digital content to Web sites and media who access the site in their search for Asia-based content. Asian-Inex says it has signed over 100 magazine and newspaper titles across Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and the Philippines.

Japan invests in Vietnam's telecom development

HANOI - A project funded by the Japanese Government has fitted out a Vietnamese training center with $2.4 million worth of telecommunications training equipment. The beneficiary is state-owned telephone company, the Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Corporation (VNPT).

According to Vietnamese news service VNS, the Japanese International Co-operation Agency (JICA) has provided a VNPT training center with $2.4 million worth of optical cable and digital transmission technology. The Japanese Government-sponsored JICA-PTTC1 project also includes training support, workshops and telecom industry expert exchange programs. At the end of December 2000, VNPT had 2,256,255 fixed telephone lines in operation, 730,155 cellular subscribers and 60,826 Internet users. Penetration of all telecom services in Vietnam remains low.
