More Vietnamese workers to be sent to Britain
HANOI - Viet Nam will send 400 more Vietnamese workers to the United Kingdom from now to the end of the year, according to the Overseas Labour Management Department.The country began sending guest workers to the UK in January, 2004.
The Overseas Labour Training and Supply Centre (TLC) under the Auto Industry Group and Viet Nam Oil Service Company (OSC Vietnam) have to date sent nearly 160 workers to the UK. All of them were given stable jobs and good living conditions.
TLC Director Tran Luc said that the workers have worked at hotels with monthly wages of between 600 and 800 USD (excluding accommodation expenditures, taxes and insurance) per person.
Viet Nam currently exports labour to 40 countries and territories, with such key markets as Laos, the Republic of Korea, Japan, Taiwan and Malaysia.
