Arafat in Vietnam for official visit
HANOI - Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat
has arrived in Vietnam and will meet the nation's top leaders on
Saturday, an official said.
The official from the Presidential Office said Arafat, who arrived
late on Friday night, would be accorded a red-carpet welcome
at 0300 GMT.
He gave no further details, but Arafat is expected to leave
Vietnam later on Saturday. Arafat arrived from Tokyo, where
he had attended an international meeting to discuss aid for the
Palestinians.
Vietnam has warm relations with the Palestinian leadership and
Arafat has visited Hanoi many times in recent decades.
