Britain's princess Anne to visit Cambodia, Vietnam
Princess Anne, only daughter of Britain's Queen Elizabeth II, is to
visit Cambodia and Vietnam next month to promote the development
work in the impoverished region of both London and her Save the Children Fund charity.
The campaigning royal will arrive in Phnom Penh on April 29 and them move on to communist
Vietnam from May 4 to 8, an embassy spokesman said.
The Vietnam leg of her trip will begin in the commercial capital of Ho Chi Minh City and take
in the former imperial capital of Hue and a rural development project in the northcentral
province of Ha Tinh before her arrival in Hanoi.
The princess is expected to meet senior communist officials in both the capital and Ho Chi
Minh City, the spokesman said.
Princess Anne has been president of the Save the Children Fund since 1970 and built up an
extensive knowledge of development issues during more than three decades of touring the
world as its ambassador.
Full details of the princess's programme were not expected to be released until nearer the time
as a result of security concerns emanating from the September 11 attacks in the United
States.
