American airlines are in a rush to increase flights to Vietnam, hoping to capitalize on the growing passenger traffic between the two countries.

The airline will offer connections from Hanoi and HCM City to its services between Tokyo and four U.S. cities-Chicago, San Jose, Dallas/Fortworth and New York. The round-trip ticket price for flights from HCM City and Hanoi to San Jose and New York with connections in Tokyo is US$999, and to Dallas and Chicago with connections in Tokyo is US$1,099.

According to Theo Panagiotoulias, managing director for Asia-Pacific, American Airlines will begin new daily services between Los Angeles and Japan in April with connections to Hanoi and HCM City.

Meanwhile, United Airlines has announced in creasing code share flights to and from Vietnam to 56 from eight per week, with connections in Bangkok and Seoul. The airlines will operate code share flights with Asiana Airlines and Thai Airways, in addition to its existing joint services with All Nippon Airways. Meanwhile, Continental Airlines has named the HCM City-based Traveland Trading and Services as its exclusive agent in Vietnam. Vietnamese passengers can book flights to America at Traveland. The flights will stop over in Narita Airport, Japan, and arrive in five destinations in America.
